Abstract
Data from schools around America have shown that suspension rates have increased, resulting in lower student outcomes. Studies have revealed that using restorative practices as an alternative to discipline can have a positive effect on student success, relationships at school, and school culture/climate. A school improvement plan was created to decrease the use of exclusionary discipline by embedding whole-school restorative practices. This comprehensive plan is designed to provide staff members with a skill set to keep students in the building more and to teach students accountability, respect, and empathy.
