Abstract
Much of the waste in landfills could be diverted into recycled or reused materials. This includes organic materials such as food waste as well as recycled materials such as paper and plastic. To solve this problem, the state of California is taking action to reduce landfill waste by 2025. This school improvement plan provides a private Christian elementary school in Southern California with a comprehensive plan to educate students, educators, and staff on how to care for God’s creation through pro-environmental behaviors, including steps to assist in the separation of food waste and recyclables. A review of the literature is included to emphasize the need for a comprehensive action plan for a private Christian elementary school.
