Newspaper feature of wooden shoemaker Jacob Van Hoff. Printed in the Sunday Des Moines Register, May 1937. Text reads, "Rapid Manipulation of this blade smooths off the shoe and rounds it into shape. Although native of Asia, tulips became Holland's national flower after their introduction here in the sixteenth century. About 1634 government restrictions were necessary to halt speculation in tulip bulbs."
