Abstract
Ralph Mouw (1919-2009) was a professor of mathematics at Northwestern College from 1947-1983. During World War II, Mouw was in the first heavy artillery unit to come ashore on Utah Beach, Normandy, France on June 5, 1944. He spent 140 straight days on combat status, fighting in five major campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge. This collection consists of 109 letters home to Orange City written by Mouw from 1941-1945. (These letters are published in edited form as Letters from Ralph, by Drs. Lee and Bonnie Meier, 2014). Additional boxes contain a scrapbook of his World War II service, artifacts from the war, uniforms, photographs, invasion map, Trinity Church Reformed Church newsletters, and certificates.
