Recording the stories of Vietnam veterans, and particularly those from northwest Iowa, is the aim of this project. The memories of their experiences serve to remind us of their dedication and sacrifice. Likewise, gathering their stories enriches the education of the Northwestern College students. Students in History 351: America and the Vietnam War, which was taught by Professor Doug Carlson, Ph.D., interviewed area veterans, as did Northwestern alumnus Sarah Bartz. Their work led to this digital collection of interviews about the Vietnam experience from the perspective of those who grew up and/or now live in northwest Iowa.
Interviews were transcribed by library staff, including Leslie Brondsema, Greta Grond, Hannah Jorgensen, and Emma Westerholm.
